The Haiti Information Project (HIP) provides news, analysis, information and background concerning politics and human rights Haiti.

HIP was founded in 2004 as a response to the lack of media coverage of human rights violations in the wake of the coup that forced President Jean-Bertrand Aristide into exile. Since then, it has blossomed into a collaboration between journalists and reliable sources concerned with providing information and background of events currently unfolding in Haiti.

In the future, this site will provide a complete archive of HIP articles written during the period of 2004-2006 including background information and photographic evidence that has never been published. It will also include specific evidence of human rights abuses committed during this period by the Police Nationale d’Haiti (PNH) and the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). There will also be links to video/audio files offering essential background and context to historical events and figures continuing to shape the current political landscape and contemporary debate of issues facing Haiti.
